Anyone can make a pasta, but not everyone can make a good one. Too often the dishes are left bland and tasteless, with only a little salt & pepper to kick it up. This may be edible, but that doesn’t mean it’s tasty, and may leave you feeling a little cheated.
What you need are some common Italian spices and garnishes to make it a bit more exciting, and a lot more flavorful. Add them to your meats, sauces, and on top to give you real Italian flavor at home.
Your most basic spice cabinet should have oregano, thyme, allspice, cilantro, cayenne pepper, cumin, rosemary, and garlic. These will be used most in your dishes. For desserts you will use ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
You should also always have red wine and olive oil on hand, which are just basic staples for good Italian cooking. They both will react well with the spices, as well as the cheeses that will be used in the dish, and on top.
The olive oil is especially important, as it can be used in place of a sauce.
If you have any intestinal problems, such as chronic heartburn, this is a great option.
